At a time when the threat of nuclear arms is again increasing, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wishes to underline that this threat must be met through the broadest possible international cooperation.
This could be an early example of multidisciplinary cooperationthrough which universities will be able to contribute more to society and earn more funding.
This can be achieved by legal measures and through national action and international cooperation in such fields as economic and social development, education, safe maternity and health care, and social support.
We wanted to do this brief appearance to highlight one of the most significant examples of what we've been doing throughthis Nuclear Security Summit, and what our three countries have been able to accomplish through some painstaking cooperation over the last several years.
