Abengoa said the project will improve its current solar thermaltechnology, which uses mirrors to concentrate and direct the sunlight for producing steam.
The kingdom also is using sophisticated technology -- thermal screening equipment at entry points and mobile devices to document suspected cases of the flu.
Recycling energy falls under the category of combined heat and power, which generates and uses both electricity and thermal heat-a technology that is now eligible to receive 10 percent investment tax credits from the U.S. government.
He said thetechnology could be used to capture waste heat from a conventional 500-megawatt thermal power plant to boost electricity out by 200 megawatts.
In the past ten years it has not only developed technology to harness its own geo-thermal but it has started to export that technology to other countries.
While the facility would only operate at full capacity for 12 hours a day, thetechnology is designed to work without water, which is often used in cooling systems for solar thermal plants and is a precious commodity in Arizona.
