Estimated hospitalizations for poisoning by prescription opioids, sedatives and tranquilizers increased 65 percent from 1999 to 2006, according to a study in the May edition of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
The RAND study, published in the November edition of thejournal Pediatrics, looked at the results of three surveys of about 2, 000 adolescents ages 12 to 17 from 2001 to 2004.
Thestudy, published in the latest edition of thejournal Geophysical Research Letters, found that the actual rate at which summer sea ice had shrunk per decade during the past 50 years was more than three times faster than an average of 18 of the most highly regarded climate simulations.
