Groundbreaking is scheduled for October (a design turnaround time that is Olympic-sprint quick) with construction to be completed two years later and a big-time test tournament mandated on the course in 2015.
The bigger test of Britain's taste for windowless pods will come with a new project starting construction this year at the Trocadero, a Victorian building in Piccadilly Circus that was most recently host to an amusement arcade.
Russell Phillips, Celtic Manor's facilities and construction chief, has made it clear that the course is ready now and should be holding test events soon.
