But lying to a federal executive branch employee is -- even if you're not under oath and even if telling the truth might incriminate you and even if no one is fooled by your lie.
It is a contempt of Parliament to lie in evidence to a committee - and perjury if the oath has been sworn - and anybody caught telling porkies could be subject to criminal penalty.
