Until a year ago, most European web surfers had to pay twice for their internet access - a fee to their ISP and the cost of a local telephone call each time they logged on.
Aside from GIK issues, word on the charitable street is that another topic of interest is paid professional fundraisers running direct-mail and telephone solicitation operations who keep most of what they raise as their fee, perhaps with the donors none the wiser.
Curiously, individual customers turn out greatly to prefer paying a single fee for, say, unlimited text-messaging or 90 hours of telephone talk-time, rather than paying for each item, one at a time even though that might be a cheaper option.
