The experience went from one of exploration in the tech demo to one of gimmickry in TF2 -- the game's VR Mode is little more than a new window for viewing the game, and has almost no impact (at least in our demo) on gameplay.

Your player was utterly crippled, somehow, by his acquisition of an incredibly powerful weapon, and so you press one button over and over until the game appeared to end before jetting off to the present for a modern-day platforming section so long and boring it felt like a tech demo of a jump button.

Of course, all these hysterics are based on nothing more than speculation and rumors, since basically no one's ever seen a whitespace device in use -- maybe if one of the giant companies backing the tech would actually demo some of this vapor, people wouldn't be so nervous about it.

The last time we heard from Steorn, the company had just joined a long line of optimistic but doomed people and companies unable to actually demo free-energy tech when put the test -- and although the Orbo didn't actually do anything, CEO Sean McCarthy promised us that we'd eventually get a working demo with physical access to the device.

So, you can forget about dazzling specs -- the 720's demo supposedly isn't concerned with bleeding edge tech.
We got a brief eyes-on with Fujitsu's demo, which shows off the eye-controlled tech working with a map application.
We're not sure when, or if, this kind of tech will ever make it into your house, but the demo we saw (see the pair of videos after the break) seemed impressively ready to go.

As for usability, it was exactly on par with the mobile demo we saw at MWC a year ago, though in the scaling up of this tech or the hasty build of this mockup it might've lost just a tad of the pixel-perfect sensitivity we witnessed before (but only just barely).
