It makes it all seem real, turning a particular vision of 18th century America into a living playground that draws the player deeper in with every piece of stylizedaction.
Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is something of a folkloric hybrid: half Little Red Riding Hood, half Japanese myth, the game is a lovely, highly-stylized action-RPG from developer American McGee and Spicy Horse Games.
Thanks to stylized dialogue and obviously artificial settings, viewers are always at some remove from the action whether it be on a nearly deserted rain-soaked street at midnight or in a sparsely furnished, smoke-filled room lighted only by a bare bulb.
