The society that honours him is so fondly regarded that two nationally known bluesmen, Sam Myers and Anson Funderburgh, agreed to come to Helena recently to perform a Sunday night show featuring more than three hours of music before a far smaller crowd than they could draw in the big cities, and for a fraction of their standard fee.
It would be disingenuous -- and potentially quite reckless -- to argue that such a sensible principle should not now be applied in order to avoid plunging the Nation into recession simply because the economy performed a fraction of a percent better than the congressionally mandated standard.
