On the valley floor stands the frozen lake of St Moritz -- home to an unlikely event of similar vintage -- "White Turf" -- horse racing on snow and ice.
Sharing part of the same route as the Glacier Express (between Chur and St Moritz), the Bernina Express runs along the World Heritage-listed Rhaetian Railway.
