They are packing up more than 19, 000 historic pottery moulds and cases to be moved from the factory to part of the old Spode pottery site in Stoke town centre.
Born in England's pottery center, Staffordshire, and trained as a ceramic painter and gilder in the renowned Copeland (formerly Spode) potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, Lycett (1833-1910) emigrated to New York in 1861.
The Spode works is in a conservation area and the council said each brick had to be carefully removed, numbered and stored so they could be reinstated at a later date.
