Now a Norwegian charity is running a pilot project to install 50 solar-powered street lights in the capital, while other donors are watching from a distance to see if that works.
Last year, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers installed more than 1, 000 solar-powered street lights in Fallujah, a predominantly Sunni city in central Iraq that was the scene of a brutal battle between insurgents and U.S. soldiers in 2004.
At Language of the Birds, solar-powered books mimic birds in motion: the open pages and bindings appear as wings and LED lights within the books create patterns.
