The J1 offers a few unique slow motion modes as well, though, including a bizarrely wide 8:3 (think 16:6, not 16:9) slow motion mode that snaps up to five seconds of 640 x 240-pixel video at 400 fps, played back at 29.97 fps.

The camera also offers creative movie playback features, such as High-speed Movie mode for slow-motion playback and Time-lapse Movie mode for fast-forward playback, and features a micro-HDMI terminal (Type D) for the output of recorded movies and sound to external devices.

The camera is also equipped with an Enhanced Motion Snapshot Mode, which users can utilize to capture fleeting moments with a short, slow-motion movie sequence in addition to a single defining still image.

Finally, there's a new best shot mode called Slow View, which captures a full-res ultra slow-motion video clip of your subject and then plays it back on the LCD.

For even more creative freedom and to capture fleeting moments, Motion Snapshot Mode gives the ability to capture a spontaneous moment as a still image and combines it with a slow motion movie vignette.
