The Home Office said it had carried out a series of inspections over the past six months and the university now met the requirements needed to sponsor international students from outside the European Economic Area.
From there, within six months, the President will be required to institute accreditation requirements for cybersecurity professionals working within the Federal Government and on designated critical information systems.
Fourteen extra pitches are needed by by 2017 to meet its legal requirements, which are in addition to the extra six already being delivered at the existing Kempston Hardwick site.
