Now there's a newly patented side-view mirror that claims to eliminate that pesky blind spot.

It's much different from the mirrors you can purchase at an auto parts store and adhere to the side-view mirror because it doesn't distort images.
The systems basically work the same: a series of cameras, lasers or infrared sensors integrated into the car (on the back side of the rear-view mirror, in the bumper or behind the windshield, for instance) monitors lane markings in the road.
