Judge Shaik Daud reckons the proposal that presiding officers be liable to charges of contempt of court might be spiked.
"If a judge wants a lawyer who appears before him to respect him, he must also show some respect to the lawyer, " Shaik maintains.
"It's better for someone else to hear it, who can view the whole thing objectively, without any emotion, " says Court of Appeal judge Shaik Daud.
But if Mr Zuma escapes without further scrutiny now that his friend Mr Shaik has been found guilty, the country's reputation for relative cleanliness will take a knock.
