Montgomery persuaded Zaugg to reintroduce the firm's road and mountain bikes in the U.S.--with him as a vice president of Scott USA. Zaugg, admiring Montgomery's confidence and connections in the bike biz, figured Montgomery was the ideal front man.
Montgomery also persuaded Zaugg to revamp Scott Sports' bike marketing.
Montgomery hopes that this bike, among Scott's other two-wheelers, will help him engineer a U.S. comeback.
At the Eurobike trade show in August 2003 Montgomery, still with Cannondale, bought a Scott cr1 frame.
Today Scott has 558 dealer accounts in the U.S., and Montgomery adds 8 new ones a month, on average.
