Only 14 percent of Americans save that much because most of us are busy living paycheck to paycheck, an American Payroll Association survey revealed this week.
Save British Science (SBS), which seeks to promote an understanding of science, carried out the survey of science departments in secondary schools in England because of fears that many pupils were missing out on practical lessons.
And what that survey seems to be showing is that in the UK, at present, our marginal propensities to save or spend are the wrong way around (according to standard Keynesian theory that is).
