Snipes was sentenced in April to the three-year maximum for those counts after prosecutors said anything less would send comforting signals to the tax protester movement.
"This incident should open our eyes to the fact that we need to raise our children right, we need to raise the people right, " saidprotester and social worker Murphy John.
"We are here to demonstrate against the Pope's visit and call for a change in the mentality of the Catholic institution which still opposes our right to different ways of loving, " said one protester, Sergi Diaz.
