The speaker of the European Parliament, Germany's Martin Schulz, has called for the levy to be revised to protect small-scale bank customers.

According to Mr Schulz, if Japan, the world's third-largest economy, eventually joins the TPP, the group would account for nearly 40% of total global economic output.
Mr. Schulz said the political signals from the Cyprus bailout are a clear threat to Luxembourg's interests.
