The cameras are being built by UK based RutherfordAppleton Laboratories (RAL), who is a world leader in building cameras for aerospace and satellite purposes.
But it has inspired other schemes, including a Stanford University study of how protein chains fold in on themselves and a global weather-forecasting model at the RutherfordAppleton Lab in Britain.
The U.K. company AWE and the RutherfordAppleton Laboratory have joined-forces with the National Ignition Facility in the U.S. to help provide energy using Inertial Confinement Fusion, in which a pellet of fuel is heated using powerful lasers.
