Simmering tensions peaked this month when South Sudan seized the oil-producing region of Heglig from Sudan, raising the stakes by targeting a resource that fuels the economies of both nations.
As stated by the Director of the Water Resources National Institute (INDRHI), Mr. Frank Rodriguez, at the closing of the event, the seminar was aimed at raising awareness on the fact that water is a finite resource and is the commitment of the whole society to preserve it, so INDRHI will keep a close link with the journalists to face water problem in the Dominican Republic.
