In FY 2005 an additional 19 agencies reported on their recovery auditing efforts, and several agencies expanded these efforts to more contract categories for FY 2006 reporting.
The Audit Commission's report warned the Labour-controlled council it must improve in its compliance with contract procedure rules, demonstrating good value for money, reporting to elected members and dealing with whistleblowers.
Add to this mix legal and regulatory requirements that require extremely careful reporting of information, and it becomes clear that corporations must implement sound legal contract management principles in order to ensure the efficient use of both resources per se and those specifically within the scope of those agreements.
