The Swedish government is funding research into the feasibility of using a wind-turbine driven oxygen pump in the Baltic, following studies carried out last year by the University of Gothenburg, which looked at the effect of pumping oxygen-rich surface water to the bottom of two Swedish fjords.
Although sulfate particles may have had the short-term effect of cooling temperatures, in the long run, pumping CO2 into the atmosphere spells trouble.
"The California Department of Water Resources will interrupt pumping water from Northern California to Southern California, which will have no effect on the water supply, " said Brown.
