One goal of a system of public education ought to be to make that level playing field a structural reality, distributing access to knowledge and information as widely as possible.
The UNESCO Moscow Office has initiated a high level round table "Creation of the system of open and universal access to public information in Bashkortostan" in Ufa, the capital of the Republic, 26 - 27th October 2006.
It presents figures for 19 countries gathered over the 1998 (or 1998 - 1999) school year from national and other sources including the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and covers access and participation of pupils and students from early childhood to tertiary level in both public and private education, teaching staff and education expenditure.
