Lugo's defense team argued Friday that senators had prejudged him during the trial that drew hundreds of protesters outside the congressional building.
"While claiming that no policy proposals would be 'prejudged', this task force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners, " the group said in a statement.
It is emotionally freeing to walk into a room and know I will not be prejudged for my weight -- that I will be given the same opportunity to prove myself that others are given because my weight is not a distraction.
So if I then start describing what's going to happen on Friday, based on what may happen on Thursday, aren't you going to certainly -- aren't certainly people going to come back and say you've already prejudged the outcome of Thursday by discussing what's going to happen on Friday?
