The leaders of the state Senate and House say that they will vote next week to strip the governor of his appointmentpowers, and that a special election should be held to fill the Senate seat.
Existing law in Michigan already allows for the appointmentof such emergency managers, but with nowhere near the powers being granted under the new legislation.
