After a reciprocal visit to the U.S. by a Chinese ping-pong team, President Richard Nixon was the first American president to visit China, and full U.S.-Chinese diplomatic relations were restored in 1979.
But on days when everyone is too swamped to gather around the company Ping-Pong table, team members will shout out their status updates from their desks, which are arranged in a circle.
In the U.S., Asian-Americans dominate ping pong, having comprised the entire U.S. Olympic table-tennis team in 2008, a feat they appear poised to repeat this year.
