Power shortages have become a major issue in Pakistan, with the government ordering an investigation into a nation-wide power cut on Sunday blamed on a technical fault in a plant in south-western Balochistan province.
The panel has said the D-1 could move simultaneously with a major active fault called Urazoko located near the plant's No. 1 and No. 2 reactors, and could affect important facilities above it.
The D-1 fault runs beneath the No. 2 reactor, and the government doesn't allow nuclear-power plant operators to build reactors directly above active faults.
