The court ruled further that it is not required to consider alternative sources of funding and said that if Mr. Pittas had wanted other family members to share in the cost, he should have joined them in the case.
On appeal, Pittas claimed that the trial court had wrongly placed the burden on him to prove that he was unable to support his mother, and also failed to consider alternative sources of payment such as Medicaid and other family members.
