Miyamoto has designed or overseen the development of many other blockbusters, among them the Legend of Zelda series, Star Fox, and Pikmin.
Upcoming games like LEGO City Undercover, Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U demonstrate that Wii U has something for every type of player.

But Pikmin is already a multiplayer title, and it may have been worth the effort of tweaking it to get it to run online.
That said, Nintendo has always had the ability to surprise everyone and of course, Nintendo has the brands to carry its console (Mario, Zelda, Pikmin etc.).
Nintendo also has been able to offer all of its key franchises in this collection, including Mario, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikmin and Yoshi.
In an interview with IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto said that the technical requirements of tracking all those little pikmin made it to hard to manage online multiplayer.
And Pikmin, a game featuring tiny creatures that have stalks protruding from their heads and that live and travel in pods called Onions, arose out of his time puttering in the garden.
In the short term, Miyamoto said "Pikmin 3" and "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" will be released for the Wii U and other games that bring a Nintendo-esque style of play will also be released later this year.

Despite not being shown with the gamepad controller, Pikmin 3 was one of my two favorite Wii U games at E3, the other one being Zombi U. It has the potential to be one of the stars of the Wii U launch period, but the lack of online multiplayer is going to hold it back from being the true Wii U showcase it could have been.
