We are particularly encouraged by the emphasis on the conservation and preservation of the OutstandingUniversalValue of each site as a means of protecting and sustaining World Heritage Sites in England.
The main objective when considering such applications should be the protection and sustenance of each World Heritage Site through the conservation and preservation of its OutstandingUniversalValue.
The Government of Nepal, as a signatory to the World Heritage Convention, must establish a management system that ensures the safeguarding of the OutstandingUniversalValue of Lumbini from any factors arising in and around the property, including the impact of the growing numbers of tourists and pilgrims to Lumbini every year.
To date, the World Heritage List recognizes 878 properties of "outstanding universalvalue, " including 679 cultural, 174 natural and 25 mixed properties in 145 States Parties.
