Next came the Android app store that is accessible via the Internet with wireless devices running the Android OS. It has been fairly successful, but Android is still perceived as a consumer operating system and most of the applications are designed with consumers in mind.
But then you have to consider the limitations of the Chrome OS - it's great if your life is in the "Cloud" and you want an always-online machine whose main function is email, web surfing and social media, but limited if you want to use other applications.
It'd be easy to lay the blame for these software quirks on its dusting of a UX, but it's more likely that the company simply neglected to fully optimize its Tegra 2 core for this skinned OS. It's not as if sleeker, more responsive and critically praised slates aren't within reach.

There are some things we can glean from the specifications of the device, however, including the lack of a front-facing camera on the 8S. Microsoft had previously been unable to generate the type of success in the smartphone OS market that it did in the PC OS market.

The reason, at least in part, that there was so much written for Microsoft OS was that it was such a popular OS. And as other OSes become more popular then I would expect to see attention being paid to writing malware for them.
It doesn't have the big names attached to it like Firefox OS and Tizen, but it feels a lot slicker to us.
For now, PalmSource will develop the Linux-based OS in concert with its existing operating system, offering it as "another flavor" of the Palm OS. There are no plans to stop development of PalmSource's latest "Cobalt" OS 6, though Limp concedes it could be eliminated at some point in the future.

As you can see, the specs on the Peak aren't anything to email home about, but for a Firefox OS device, it's certainly above-average.
