As Intel has cut the size of its circuits from 1 to 1.5 microns a few years ago to 0.25 microns for its latest Pentiums, operatingtemperatures have dropped.
If they are left stranded the supplies are enough to keep them alive for 365 days, a realistic prospect given significant uncertainty about whether the support vehicles carrying their supplies can continue operating at temperatures of -70 degrees Celsius.
This includes investing in more of the highly specialized machines that can test and simulate everything from power and performance to life and thermal behavior over a complete range of temperatures and possible operating conditions.
