Their growing assertiveness is unlikely to be much checked by the resignation on February 3rd of Chris Huhne, who had learned he would be charged with passing on points incurred by a speeding offence to his then wife.
Police have submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service over claims Mr Huhne asked his former wife to take speeding points on his behalf for an offence in 2003 so that he would not lose his licence.
Ms Pryce, who denies the offence, recorded the calls with the help of Sunday Times political editor Isabel Oakeshott around April 2011, as she tried to get the former MP to admit points-swapping for a speeding offence from 2003.
