The objective of this study was to estimate the annual and lifetime medical costs attributable to obesity, to compare those to similar costs attributable to smoking, and to discuss the implications for prevention.
That estimate was based upon cost and revenue projections of the CHRSA, which the study co-author noted that virtually every objective outside analyst found to be overly optimistic.
Our objective was to strengthen the material already being taught, expand into new areas of study and convey to students the connection between what they were learning and the real world.
