The National Institute for Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) is the leading non-governmental organization promoting the interests of adult learners in England and Wales.
NIACE's research into digital learning has been able to inform the way that we have devised and delivered national programmes of staff training and organisation-wide application of technology.
Attendees included laureates from the two winning institutions (NIACE and the Infocentro Foundation of Venezuela), the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain and Mrs Irina Bokova, the UNESCO Director General.
NIACE's programmes - which seek to ensure that no learner is denied access to the benefits of technology - are the result of years of hard work from a dedicated team.
The Jury were impressed that NIACE had played a key role in helping to set up a national network of 6, 000 internet access centres to serve adults in both rural and urban settings.
