Pleas by the U. S. State Department to the Ugandan government to have my father declared dead so his estate could be settled and lifeinsurance benefits paid were met with denials by Idi Amin that my father was dead.
In our case, the lifeinsurance paid off the mortgage, and provided enough for my mother to continue to stay at home with us until I was in high school.
