The government sponsors a group called the China Consumers' Association, which approves of Mr Wang's efforts.
Mr Wang has been credited with promoting more open access to information about government spending.

Mr Wang's views did not strike an instant chord with his subordinates.
"We do see hardware becoming rapidly commoditised, " says Mr Wang.
"On the one hand, microblogs can reflect the social situation and public opinion, and broadcast a positive public voice, " Mr Wang was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.
"However, as the new subscribers are mainly low-end users and tariff adjustments are steadily and gradually introduced in the first quarter, average revenue per minute of usage recorded a decrease, " Mr Wang added.
Mr Wang's rethink was triggered by a spate of 200-odd strikes last year in the Pearl River delta that began in May with workers downing tools at a Honda car-parts factory in Foshan, near Guangzhou.
The crucial influences, Mr Wang reckons, are the benefits of development, including better health care and sharp drops in high infant-mortality rates which led people to have many children in order to ensure that at least some would survive.
In his statement, which was repeated by the state-run Xinhua news agency, Mr. Wang said Mr. Buffett would sing a song and play guitar in the online version of this year's Spring Festival gala.
Mr. Wang also declined to offer specifics on Mr. Buffett's appearance, including whether it would also appear on the Spring Festival television special, a four- to five-hour series of songs and skits produced by the state broadcaster that is watched by 700 million people in China and might be the world's most-viewed TV show.
Mr. Wang said on Friday that he worked with Sun Media's Mr. Wu to reach Mr. Buffett.
"The market has been fixated on the Facebook IPO for so long, " Mr. Wang said.
But "if there are good investment opportunities in Europe, we will consider, " Mr. Wang said.
