In response to a statement to MPs by Foreign Secretary William Hague on 21 July 2010 on the outcome of the Kabul Conference, Mr Leigh told MPs that "we don't want to conquer Afghanistan nor do we want to scuttle out and leave chaos".
Mike Lee of Utah, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who had tried to scuttle the bill, may use procedural tactics to prolong debate on some amendments they find objectionable, Mr. Lee's spokesman said.
