Inventables' most recent shipment included a self-heating can that contains calcium oxide and water, which mix and heat up when users press a button on the can.
Another preparation involves first heating powdered spices such as turmeric, cumin and coriander in oil so their different chemicals mix, then adding fresh ingredients, such as garlic, ginger and onions.
