Earlier this week, Mr Justice Mitting told the UK's Special Immigration Appeals Commission the preacher should be freed within days because his deportation had been blocked by the European Court.
Reviewing legal documents, Mr Justice Mitting said they suggested the alleged co-conspirator - who has claimed he had been tortured before giving evidence - had been given the money by Abu Qatada.
Mr Justice Mitting freely admits that the tribunal is "rather odd" when compared with the way other British courts operate - but in doing so, he is not conceding that its decision-making is flawed.
The bail conditions imposed by Mr Justice Mitting on Abu Qatada include being allowed out of his house only between 08:00 and 16:00, having to wear an electronic tag, and being restricted in whom he meets.
