It was a time when phrases like "scrip, " "black lung" and "mining disaster" fell from the lips of workers, wives and children like the tar-colored dust that settled on their windowsills.
It will be unveiled close to the site of the colliery on 14 October, the 100th anniversary of the 1913 Senghenydd disaster in which 439 miners were killed - the worst miningdisaster in Britain.
Dave Bolton, national operations manager at UK Coal said the firm was aware of the disaster and its plans meant it would "not be mining anywhere near" the bodies.
The Canadian-controlled mining company, Boliden, says it is not to blame for the disaster, but has pledged millions to help pay for ruined crops in the farming region.
