On the military front, Medis is supplying General Dynamics with experimental Power Packs to power battlefield PDAs, although GD has yet to place an order.
Medis' initial Power Pack is designed to be a "socket in your pocket" that will allow cell phone and handheld-device users to recharge their gadgets without plugging into an outlet.
Although much of the publicity for fuel cells has centered on the possible future replacement of petroleum-based fuels in automobiles, Redstone is much more confident in the viability of Medis products designed for applications that may be more mundane but just as ubiquitous.
Medis is also working with Flextronics (nasdaq: FLEX - news - people ) to manufacture power converters and with Eastman Kodak (nyse: EK - news - people ) on design engineering for the fuel production line.
