This microscopic scale and sensitivity allows the sensor to map a high-resolution image of electrical charge that occurs over the surface of a source material (for example a human finger), when it makes contact with a thin insulating surface (ie a plastic surface).
The map is a very complex thing to produce, and reflects not only the extraordinary sensitivity and resolution of Planck but also the immense sophistication now possible in the statistical analysis of the telescope's data.
On the map, part of the Google Zeitgeist project which tracks search trends and other activity, users can post their resolution and see it appear in a location based on their zip code.
