Bob Brindley, principal at consulting firm Advito, a unit of travel-management company BCD Travel, estimates that the average threshold for an upgrade is now eight hours better than the 10-hour minimum many companies set at the start of the downturn, but still less generous than the six-hour level seen a few years earlier.
