And you only have to look under the hood or crawl beneath the car to see a technological nightmare: A low-compression flathead V-8, cloth wrapped wires, a crude carburetor, leaf springs and no shocks, big mechanical brakes that were about as useful as an anchor, and a differential the size of a melon, to appreciate that this car was a polluting, rattling, death trap.
