As the Moon's disc began to leave the Sun, it was light again, and birds, which had flown to their nests only minutes earlier, came chirping out again.
The infra-red light from dust heated by a star has a much longer wavelength ie, is cooler than most of the light from the star itself, so a camera tuned to the right wavelength can pick out a dust disc without being totally blinded by the stellar glare.
The hybrid disc works by making the Blu-ray layer act like a two way mirror, reflecting enough light for Blu-ray playback, but letting enough light through for HD DVD operation.
