In 65 short years, the humble transistor evolved into an artificial lifeform called Watson, a computer system that recognizes natural language and, in 2011, handily defeated two former champions on the TV quiz show Jeopardy.
By the time I walk you in future columns through all the component parts of the system, or at least the ones that can be understood by human lifeform, you will see that there is plenty of blame to go around here, including for you and me.
