TheTechnology Expertise, Access and Learning for all Texans (TEAL) project is working through 38 local librarysystems across Texas to install 2, 100 new workstations and upgrade 580 existing machines in more than 150 existing and new computer centers.
Cindy Miller, director of product strategy at Endeavor Information Systems, said there are obvious differences between the new systems and the one the library currently uses.
In the meantime, it is not quite clear who will actually use the library except, perhaps, local researchers using its computer systems to access works that are held elsewhere.
Miller said users will know instantly if the library makes changes to documents, a feature not available on the current system because of incompatibility among computer systems.
